True Fellowship is “walking in the light”

1 John 1:7 (KJV)

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

The power of fellowship is that it brings about change in us. Fellowshipping with God in Spirit and Truth leads us to experience the rubbing of His nature and character in us. We are called not only to be the light but also to walk in the light.

To walk in the light implies that we constantly:

  1. Recognize our new nature and allow that recognition to inform the way we view ourselves in the light of all we go through.
  2. Develop a mindset of God consciousnesses, meaning that we understand and accept that we are living carriers of God’s presence, and as such, we make choices that reflect that truth.
  3. Live in such a way and manner that our daily interactions envelop us in righteousness and holiness.
  4. See the good in others as we see people through the lens of God in them.

So, when and if we walk in the light, we have fellowship with God, who is light. The result is that our true self is revealed to us, and in such awesome moments, we face to face with the reality of our nature and character.

So, two things happen:

A. We see ourselves as God sees us. This enhances fellowship and intimacy with God. It empowers us to face life and all that it brings. We see our authority and power as vested on us by God. We see possibilities. So, the place of fellowship is the place of empowerment.

B. We also are confronted by our weaknesses but not in a judgmental way but a loving manner so that grace is availed to us. When this happens, the blood of Jesus cleanses us, and that is the beauty of fellowship.

Fellowship takes place in the environment of openness, love, faith, trust, and acceptance. Know that God loves you, He trusts you, have accepted you, and you ought to have faith in Him. The agency of the Word provides the best environment for fellowship as well as the congregation of believers. You are blessed and highly favored.

Shalom,

Apostle Morgan.
