There are Fundamentals of life that we cannot afford to miss if we are going to fully appropriate all of the blessings of God in Christ for us.
Waiting on God is one of those Fundamentals, however, our human nature is such that we associate waiting as waste of time or an unnecessary position to take in view of how fast life is moving and our need to respond to such life issues.
The Scriptures however, presents a different concept about waiting on God’s timing. The Bible speaks of waiting on God as a necessity for growth in some of the virtues that we need to safely and securely navigate through life.
Such virtues like patience, gentleness, compassion, integrity, consistency, love and kindness are all tied to waiting on God’s time.
You see when you wait on God’s time in anything you develop both character and capacity of sustainability necessary to maintain what you will subsequently receive.
Waiting on God’s time is one of the spiritual capacity that a believer develops that enhance his or her relationships in the sense that it helps him or her to overcome impulsiveness.
Impulsiveness which is acting on impulses allows negative emotions such as unhealthy anger and rage to dominate the individuals life thereby affecting his or her relationship.
When you wait on God, you come to realize how God operates in the sense of the ways of God. Your strength is renewed and you develop depth in God that you would not have otherwise.
What are the practical things to do why you wait on God’s timing?
A. Avoid being idle meaning that you actively engage in faith for waiting on God should never be construed to mean idling.
B. Create an environment of praise and prayer that allows you to focus on God and not the object of your waiting.
C. Avoid all forms of negativity especially those whose ways are opposed to what you are doing.
D. Intentionally listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice and respond in obedience promptly.
Resolve to be the change you pray for. Shalom.
