Acts 1:8 King James Version (KJV)
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
God is both purposeful and intentionally in His approach to all He does. We are to adopt same in our lives and families, so that we can accomplish the destiny to which God has called us. Therefore, the above scripture underscores the purpose of God for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
1. The Holy Spirit has come to empower us. We need divine empowerment in order to succeed in life. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is meant to allow us walk in righteousness and holiness. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit enables us to stand firm for God in a world where compromise is the order of the day. The empowerment of the Holy Spirit is necessary for decisions that naturally are difficult to make, but we are enabled by the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to make such decisions.
2. We are to be witnesses. A witness is a living testament of the Truth that he or she represents. We are to be living proofs of who God is through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Our life shines in a dark world in such a way that people are attracted to it. We are to be such manifestations of Gods goodness and grace in a world full of hate and revenge.
Our love should be genuine and felt by all that are around us. In these ways we are witnessing to others of the God in us. Our witness must transcend the mere saying of our mouth to a lifestyle that is both illuminous and efficacious. Oh that our world becomes better by our presence in it.
