1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
Biblical revelation is practical and its requirements are very precise. This is intended by God to allow us make choices that reflects our values and drives in life.
The above scripture underscores the need for us not to love the World. It gives us the idea of how the love of the World works. It starts with our cravings for pleasure that is not pleasing to God. We develop affections that are contrary to the Holy Spirit and Pride of the mind sets in. The result is living a life that is driven by fleshy passions and worldly feelings.
I pray that God indeed search your hearts. That He helps us to humble ourselves to the Holy Spirit. That we stay focus on what is important our walk with Christ. That set our affections on things that are above where Christ is and that nothing in this life becomes more important than our eternal souls destiny.
