James 1:5 (KJV)
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
There are many things that only God can do for you and do through you. In life we are confronted with situations that often are bewildering and difficult at such we need to depend on God who alone is the source of ‘All Grace’.
Here the author of the book of James by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit addresses the fact that life for the believer is saddled with challenges and that our perception of these challenges is critical. He began by establishing that we must develop an attitude of joy and patience as we deal with life situations. However, he further explained that one critical factor we all need in life and in navigating life’s challenges is wisdom.
And that this wisdom comes from God and we need to ask God for it. Notice that James said if any implying that you and I must come to the realization of what we stand in need of. There are many facets of wisdom that you may need in life’s journey. Here are a few:
- Wisdom for relationships matters.
- Wisdom for financial matters.
- Wisdom in dealing with difficult issues and life challenges.
- Wisdom in handling people and diversity.
- Wisdom in personal life issues.
The Bible states that wisdom is the principal thing and in all, we desire to get in life we must get wisdom and understanding. The beginning of wisdom then is the fear of the Lord. When I reverence God by living my life for His glory, I open myself to Him for the flow of wisdom. Wisdom comes through exposure to sound words and doctrines. When I am exposed to sound teaching and practical life principles am being empowered to walk in wisdom.
So, ask God for wisdom is important but opening yourself up to God as He pours out unto you His wisdom through His word is another thing. God as well will place in your life people who are an embodiment of wisdom, in whose life God has demonstrated His wisdom through the things they have gone through, meaning by their experience you gain wisdom if only you can listen and obey.
Wisdom is an element of fruitfulness and bearing the fruit of wisdom distinguishes you in life situations. You are commanded to be fruitful and fruitful you are for the power of the curse has been broken. Arise and shine for your light is come and the glory of God has risen upon you.
Shalom,
Apostle Morgan
