2 Timothy 4:8 (KJV)Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
The idea of future Reward is a huge motivator for humans. We do things not only because there is an immediate reward but also because there is a “Future Reward”. You work had for a good retirement, pension, or other benefits. We believe our employers when they give us that employment package the time we got hired.
It motivates us to go to work come rain, snow, or sunshine. Why? Because there is something we are looking forward to and our lives sometimes are so driven by these rewards that we miss out of important things of life and we justify our actions sampling by saying well it will pay off some day.
However, as much as it is imperative to work and be self sustaining and think of the future here on earth, we must as well think of the ultimate reward that comes from one who is identified as The Righteous Judge. He will reward in Righteousness and the certainty of His 401K does not fail and His company never goes bankrupt either.
My question then is why do we labor so much for that which perishes? Why do we so often forget why we are here? Why do we when it comes to our ultimate future reward make such less investment in it? Why do we not have the same or even more passion for our heavenly reward as we have for our earthly reward?
May we remember that we shall all reap what we sow. There is a DAY of reward. Are you looking forward to it. And are you investing in your Future?
