Psalm 139:23-24 (KJV)
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts:
24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
The need for yieldedness and openness to God cannot be overemphasized. It is the pathway to growth. When daily applied, it leads to untold fruitfulness.
When the psalmist asked God to search him and know his heart and try his thoughts, he was inviting God to an intimate relationship. He was yielding himself willingly to the working of the Holy Spirit. He was asking for divine involvement in his affairs.
It takes an individual who truly is committed to growing in grace and in God to ask God to search his or her heart as well as trying his or her thoughts. Because it demonstrates the deeper desire to be the best that God requires an individual to submit to the cleansing of God.
Therefore:
- If we truly value our relationship with God, then nothing should stand between us and that relationship.
- If we truly are open to changing our ways, then we will embrace the Grace of God fully.
- If we are truly hungry for God, then we will not be hesitant in inviting Him to be involved in our deepest challenges.
Knowing that God loves you and that whatever He sees in you, He by the Holy Spirit will handle it in love and mercy should assure your heart that when you allow God, all things will work out beautifully for you.
Our hearts and thoughts require daily attention because out it flows the issues of life. A healthy thought produces a healthy lifestyle. An unhealthy thought is the catalyst of all evil. So, let’s allow the Holy Spirit to search our thoughts and to wash it by the water of the Word.
God wants us to be fruitful spiritually and we can only do so by yielding to the Holy Spirit.
Shalom,
Apostle Morgan.
