Psalm 42:2 (KJV)
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
Thirst is a natural phenomenon as hunger. However, what you are thirsting for and what we are hungry for reveals the need for our lives. Thirsting for something shows how much you are in need of such a thing and when you are thirsting for God, it as well reveals the inner drive of your life. The psalmist declares that he was thirsting for the Living God. In other words, God was his satisfaction. knowing God was the drive of his life. As a child of God, what is the drive of your life? What is the most important thing in your life? Who satisfies you?
You see, these are questions we need to ask ourselves and find answers because they define our approach to life. We cannot afford to be Christians in whose life God is not the focal point. What or who we thirst for determines what our passion will be. When God for who He is and what He has offered is the thirst of our soul, then our longing will be for the things of God. We will be all about God.
Now notice that David wrote this Psalm by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit when pursued to kill him. Instead of being angry and mad with God, he was desirous of God’s House. He was desirous of God’s presence. Who you are and what you do during your moments of challenges are revelatory of your true self and sometimes of the real nature of your being.
Let us learn from David, let us be a people whose passion is for God. Let us be people who are always ready and willing to go all out for God no matter the circumstances. Let’s recognize that God is not just God in good times, but He is God at all times.
Remember you can only be fruitful when your passion is truly for God. You are called to be fruitful and fruitful you are, for God is ever committed.
Shalom,
Apostle Morgan.
