Joel 2:12 (KJV)
Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
You may have heard it before, I have run out of patience. I don’t think I have time for this. I am not sure this relationship, marriage or friendship is repairable. Things have completely broken down; I have moved on. Such expressions underscore the inability of humanity in handling certain life issues for a long period. We are exhaustible and we change per our experiences. We do not always have the tenacity to endure all through.
However, such frailty does not exist in God. We see God:
- who doesn’t only endure forever but His love and compassion are inexhaustible,
- whose capacity to forgive is incomprehensible; We see God whose faithfulness is everlasting,
- who knows and understands our frailty and still cares for us irrespective of what He knows and sees in us.
It isn’t in God not to forgive and welcome anyone back in whose heart there is genuine repentance. So, the Bible declares that God desires that we genuinely return to Him. Why?
You see, God is not like us who can be a bride with pretenses, nor can we fake the true nature of our issues before God. Our God sees us and knows us. Do you understand that He judges the intentions of your heart and mine? So, as we journey in life, let’s develop the attitude of genuine repentance. Let us be people who are always open to the corrections of God. And welcome such correction as that which is from our God.
Genuine repentance produces godliness and fruitfulness. Genuine repentance involves seeking God wholeheartedly. Genuine repentance involves godly sorrow with an open and contrite heart. We are called to know that God will ever forgive us irrespective of our offense. That is how much He loves.
Remember you can’t bear godly fruit without purity. Walk with God and be genuine.
Shalom,
Apostle Morgan.
